Take a look back at the past with a backstage pass to Whitewater Shaker Village. Whitewater is one of only four Ohio Shaker villages that has preserved most of its original buildings and settings. Nowhere else in the state is there such a significant collection of original Shaker buildings , 22 in all. These buildings and the grounds where they were built are a tribute to the lives of peaceful, hardworking, sincere people who believed every act of labor should be interpreted as a form of religious expression.

This once-thriving Shaker community, located northwest of Cincinnati, was almost forgotten for nearly 80 years. But, the Friends of Whitewater recently began the process of restoring Whitewater to its former glory. The renovation of buildings is underway. Its important for you to get a first-hand look at work in process as well as the potential the village has to offer.

Freud Tools will sponsor the event and have one of their mobile workshops available. In this fully equipped woodworking shop on wheels, Freud provides clinics and shares its commitment to training woodworkers about cutting tools and why innovation in cutting tools is important.

During the day, Freud representatives will present two woodworking clinics. In the first clinic Freud introduces its new Premier Adjustable Rail and Stile set. This router bit set lets woodworkers mill any length of tenons, from stub to wedged through-tenons. Your doors will last for years and be stronger thanks to longer tenons.

This second clinic shows you how to make glass panel doors using Freud’s method. Glass doors are a great way to disguise a display or cabinet. The entire process of making glass doors, from cutting the stock to assembly to setting the glass and applying it to the stop, will be shown during the clinic.

There is limited space. Reserve your slot by sending an e-mail to Megan Fitzpatrick, and directions will be sent forthwith.
