All Glued Up And No Place To Go

Today I spent some time in the shop fitting tenons and gluing the base. I will need to make and place a web frame as well as the drawers. If everything is square enough, they should push/pull from both sides. But Im at a design impasse. I simply cant decide what to do about the top. Please read on and then give me your opinion.
your opinion in the comments.

Initially, I designed a frame-and-panel top, and I still
I like the way it looks. However, as my coworkers pointed, I would be unhappy if there was a coffee spillage or a crumbled cookie.
the panel and got stuck (or worse, dripped down into the drawers). I could keep the design, and add a piece glass to the top. But I don’t like the look of glass on top.
convinced).

I have enough cherry to make a nice looking piece.
figure for a two-board glue-up, so I could just go with that, and add some kind of edge treatment probably a simple ogee or bullnose. I don’t know if that would work.
It seems a bit plain. I am a little worried about the panel not staying flat as the temperature and humidity fluctuate so much in my home (Im too poor to turn on the air conditioning if it is below 85, and 60 in winter).

Option three: Breadboard ends. Maybe pegged. Maybe not. But, while I cant articulate why, Im not sold on that look for this piece.

What do you think? All suggestions are appreciated.
(Caveat : In the past, I have been known to disregard good advice.
